Relaxed hour-long morning concert by Northern Ireland Opera with duets, cabaret and musical theatre songs, with the NI Opera Chorus and refreshments included.
Northern Ireland Opera are bringing another Morning Melodies concert to The Brian Friel Theatre on Saturday 17 October, from 11am to midday. It's part of their regular morning series, which they've staged across Belfast at venues like Holywood Old School, Carlisle Memorial Church and The Observatory at the Grand Central Hotel. This one is at the theatre inside the Queen's Film Theatre (QFT) at University Square.
On the day, vocalists Anna Violet and Chris Kane will be performing with pianist Tristan Russcher. The set is a mix of opera, cabaret and musical theatre, with duets and timeless songs throughout. It's directed by NI Opera's Artistic Director Cameron Menzies, and the performers are drawn from the company's own ranks—principals and singers from their Chorus Development Programme. The thirty-strong NI Opera Chorus often sits at the heart of these concerts, too.
Morning Melodies is set up as a friendly, relaxed hour of live music, and the ticket includes tea, coffee and a traybake. It's a casual way to hear opera and cabaret without the formality of a full evening production. The company is also developing a Morning Melodies Club for 2027, which will offer a discount on tickets and access to behind-the-scenes talks.
