Free drop-in mindful colouring session at Golden Thread Gallery's Hub, with all materials provided and no booking required.
Golden Thread Gallery is running a Mindful Colouring Drop-In this Friday 30 October, from 12:30 to 14:00, at The Hub on Queen Street. It's part of their wider programme of free mindfulness workshops, which also run on Wednesdays from 13:30 to 15:00 and Fridays from 11:30 to 13:00, and they describe the sessions as being designed to ease stress and celebrate self-expression. All the materials are provided, so you just need to turn up.
The session takes place in The Hub, a free, accessible space run by and with local communities. It's home to several self-led art activities you can get stuck into whenever you fancy — collage, paper mosaic, drawing and colouring-in — and there's a free Little Library there too. If you're not in the mood for a group session, you can still pop in and use the space on your own.
Golden Thread Gallery has a long history of working with local communities and marginalised groups, including migrant, refugee and asylum seeker families. They also run a Health and Wellbeing programme for people with long-term health issues and mental health challenges, and the gallery was awarded a Calouste Gulbenkian Award for Civic Arts Organisations in 2023. On the second Saturday of every month, they hold free Creative workshops for teens and adults, driven by the view that engaging with art can reduce stress, enhance cognitive function and promote positive mental health.
