Album launch concert by Mary Dillon, Dónal O'Connor and Neil Martin, combining traditional and classical music, at the Lyric Theatre Belfast.
Mary Dillon, Dónal O'Connor and Neil Martin launch their debut album at the Lyric Theatre on Sunday 25 October, as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival. It's a long-awaited record, and this is the night they finally bring it out into the open. The sound puts Dillon's voice at the centre, with O'Connor on fiddle and Martin on cello and harmonium.
Dillon is a two-time All-Ireland singing champion from Dungiven, County Derry, and BBC Radio has called her 'the voice of Déanta', with a sound steeped in family tradition. O'Connor comes from a distinguished lineage of Oriel fiddlers and singers; he's a founding force behind Ulaid and At First Light, and has played with Paul Brady, Horslips, John McSherry, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Ríoghnach Connolly, Davy Spillane and Karen Matheson. Martin is a Belfast-born cellist, uilleann piper and composer who's worked across classical and traditional music, with performances at Ground Zero, Mostar Bridge, the Royal Albert Hall and the International Space Station, and contributions to over 100 albums.
