Scottish folk singer-songwriter Kris Drever plays The Duncairn with new songs from his album 'Doing This For Love' and traditional material.
Kris Drever plays The Duncairn on Saturday 24 October, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. He's touring his new album, Doing This For Love, and the set will be built around it — brand-new songs played alongside a selection of his back catalogue of originals and his interpretations of traditional material.
Drever is a Scottish singer-songwriter raised in the Orkney Islands, and he works at the intersection of traditional folk and modern acoustic music. He's known for a warm voice, expressive guitar playing and songwriting that leans on lyrics of depth and authenticity, with arrangements that explore place, identity and social change. He's won seven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including Best Singer, Best Original Song and Best Group with the award-winning trio Lau, of which he's one third, as well as several Scottish NaTrads.
His solo work sits in that folk-acoustic space, and he's collaborated across a wide range of styles: Jack Bruce of Cream, Bela Fleck, Tinariwen, Joan As Police Woman and Rosanne Cash. This tour is about the new record, Doing This For Love, so you'll hear the latest songs first, with the older originals and traditional songs filling out the rest of the night.
