Kingfishr, the Irish folk trio with traditional instruments, headline the Belsonic festival at Ormeau Park in Belfast.
Kingfishr headline Belsonic at Ormeau Park on Friday 11 June 2027. It's one of the headline slots in Belsonic's return to the park, which runs throughout June with international acts taking turns across the month.
If you're not familiar with them, Kingfishr formed while members Eddie (vocals, guitar), McGoo (banjo), and Fitz (bass) were studying engineering at university in Limerick. They lean into that heritage with traditional instruments and poetic songwriting, and their music is described as cinematic, with deep textures and a grand sonic atmosphere. They've cited influences ranging from Hans Zimmer to Ben Howard, and the sound has racked up over 20 million Spotify streams.
They've spent the last few years playing alongside some big names, supporting Bruce Springsteen at BST, as well as George Ezra and Dermot Kennedy. They've also played festivals like Electric Picnic, Latitude, Live At Leeds, and Indiependence, and have appeared on BBC Introducing Belfast and the Irish series Other Voices. This Belsonic date puts them back in the city, headlining a night at Ormeau Park in the heart of Belfast city centre.
