Tribute show celebrating the music of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, with songs like 'Jolene', 'The Gambler' and 'Islands in the Stream'.
Islands in the Stream comes to the Grand Opera House on Thursday 19 November, a tribute show celebrating the music of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. It's produced by Michael Taylor and presented by Entertainers Management Ltd, and it's one stop on a 29-venue tour.
The show pairs Parton's warmth and personality with Rogers' charm, and the set leans on a songbook of country music's most loved anthems. You'll hear Jolene, 9 to 5, Here You Come Again, I Will Always Love You, Ruby, Lucille, The Gambler, Coward of the County and, of course, Islands in the Stream. Along the way, it draws on the story of a Smoky Mountains farm girl's rise to country music's biggest superstar.
It's staged with vocals and musicianship that leave room to sing along, with the duo's live shows and gentle humour at its heart. The production is recommended for ages 14 and over.
