Boxing Day 'Big Two' Belfast derby between Glentoran and Linfield in the BOYLESports Premiership at The BetMcLean Oval.
Glentoran and Linfield meet at The BetMcLean Oval on Boxing Day, 26 December, for the traditional Big Two derby in the BOYLESports Premiership. It's the one fixture both sets of fans look for first when the league list comes out, and this year it falls right on Boxing Day in east Belfast.
It's not the only time the two will cross paths this season. They've already met at the Oval in the County Antrim Senior Shield, a first-round tie where Glentoran knocked Linfield out. The winner of that match progressed to the quarter-finals, so the Glens have the early advantage in the cup side of things heading into the league clash.
For those who follow the Premiership, the Big Two is the defining rivalry of the city, and having it land on Boxing Day makes it a bit of a holiday tradition. It's a match that usually draws a crowd regardless of where the two sit in the table, and the atmosphere at the Oval should reflect that.
