Free family celebration of the Mexican Day of the Dead with dancers, drummers, fire performers, stilt walkers and a sugar skull float, ending with a Skull Procession.
Día de los Muertos takes over the Cathedral Quarter on Saturday 31 October, from 5pm to 10pm. It's presented by ArtsEkta in association with Cathedral Quarter BID, and it draws on the traditions and imagery of the Mexican Day of the Dead to bring the quarter to life with colour, music, dance, fire and street performance.
Throughout the evening, pop-up acts and larger-than-life characters take over the streets and hidden corners of the area. The line-up includes Mexican Día de los Muertos dancers, live musicians and drummers, fire performers, and stilt walkers. The whole thing builds towards a Skull Procession that kicks off in Hill Street at 7pm, led by a Sugar Skull Crane.
