Melbourne post-punk and garage-punk band Delivery play the Ulster Sports Club with support from Irish riot grrrl act Delivery Service.
Delivery play the Ulster Sports Club on Thursday 29 October, their first Irish date. They're a five-piece from Melbourne, Australia, and they'll be supported by the Irish riot grrrl four-piece Delivery Service.
Delivery have built their sound on a mix of garage rock and post-punk, and they describe it as caustic, mutant garage punk held together by propulsive drumming, slashing guitars and shout-along choruses. Their debut EP, Yes We Do, fused the two styles, and their second album, Force Majeure, was mastered by Mikey Young. It's their first record for the UK indie label Heavenly Recordings, and it's the album they're bringing over to these shores. Henry Rollins has called them a "really cool band from Australia," and they're set to bring that same high-energy blend of post-punk and new-wave pop to Irish audiences for the first time.
Opening the night is Delivery Service, an Irish riot grrrl four-piece, so the whole bill stays firmly in the guitar-driven, high-energy camp. Between the two, you've got a Melbourne post-punk outfit and a local riot grrrl band sharing one stage, which should make for a loud, fast evening.
