Musical by Big Telly Theatre Company about a man marrying an artificial intelligence, staged as an immersive experience at The Lyric Theatre Belfast.
Big Telly Theatre Company bring Darren Jackson's Wedding to the Lyric Theatre Belfast from Wednesday 21 October to Sunday 1 November, with press night on Thursday 22 October. It's part of the Belfast International Arts Festival, and it's not your usual night at the theatre: the show is an immersive experience that starts outside before moving indoors, so you'll be on your feet and moving around rather than just sitting in a seat. It's a multi-site performance that begins at St Bartholomew's Church in Stranmillis and concludes at the Naughton Studio.
The story pits man against machine. Darren Jackson, an emotionally devoted digital native, marries Sarah Halden, an artificial intelligence. Big Telly suggest the groom may have been groomed and the deep fake is on the take, so there's a fair bit of cynicism running under the surface of the whole thing. It's recommended for ages 14 and up.
This follows Big Telly's Granny Jackson's Dead, which toured and picked up Best Production Off Broadway in The Stage Top 50 Shows. Darren Jackson's Wedding is staged by Big Telly with Zoe Seaton, Shelley Atkinson and Company, and it's part of the Lyric Theatre's 75th anniversary season, which was announced in May 2026 and runs across seven months with 24 offerings.
