YeehawTies is a queer honky tonk pool party taking over the Austin Motel on Sunday, August 2. It's presented by Neon Rainbows, and the afternoon runs from 2 PM to 6 PM at 1220 S Congress Ave.
The music comes from Ed West, an Austin DJ who'll be spinning good time honky tonk beats throughout the party. Between the sets, drag performances will run all afternoon, and the lineup includes the return of Lady Bull Johnson.
The whole thing is built around the 'Ride the Bull, Ride the Wave' tagline, which sets the scene: country-inflected beats paired with drag performances in an outdoor pool setting. The organizers describe it as a gathering for 'steers, queers, boots, bathin' suits, & line dancing around the pool,' so the dress code is as much a part of the afternoon as the music. If you've got boots and a swimsuit, you're set.
