A queer meet-up for spellcasters to socialise with fellow witches at Zilker Park.
Witchy Wednesdays is back at Zilker Park on Wednesday, August 19, a queer meet-up for spellcasters to socialize with fellow witches. It's a straightforward gathering: a chance to hang out with other queer folks who share an interest in the craft, right in the middle of one of the city's biggest green spaces.
If you're not intimately familiar with the park, Zilker is 351 acres of open space that a lot of locals call Austin's 'crown jewel.' It's home to Barton Springs Pool, the Zilker Hillside Theatre, the Zilker Botanical Gardens, the Science and Nature Center, and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. It's also the site of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Zilker Kite Festival, and the holiday Trail of Lights. Over the years, it's picked up several Best of Austin Readers Poll awards, including Best Park in 2003, Best Playground in 2022, and Best Place to Hang With Your Pet in 2023.
That's the kind of place you can spend a whole afternoon in without ever leaving the park boundaries, so if you're coming for the meet-up, you've got plenty of room to wander around before or after. You can dip into Barton Springs, walk through the botanical gardens, or just find a spot on the grass and settle in. It's a good spot for a mid-week break, especially if you're looking for a queer community that shares your practice.
