The Flametrick Subs and Llano play rock and psychobilly at The 13th Floor in a rare pre-midnight performance.
The Flametrick Subs play The 13th Floor on Saturday, September 19, with Llano sharing the bill. It's a rock and psychobilly night in the heart of downtown Austin, and the whole thing is billed as "Virgo Madness."
If you're not familiar with the Subs, they've been around since 1989, when lead vocalist and guitarist Buster Crash formed the band with lead guitarist Clem Hoot right here in Austin. They've built their name on a raw, high-energy live show that blends their own "psycho-alien-voodoo-bad girl" originals with a wide range of influences—Johnny Cash, The Cramps, and The Ramones all fit in the same set. They call the lot of them "drinkin' songs," and that's a good way to sum up the vibe: loud, loose, and meant for a room with a bar.
The "Virgo Madness" title comes from a bit of band trivia: all three members have birthdays within five days of each other, and they're all Virgos. The show is billed as a rare pre-midnight performance, with the band promising a night of rock 'n' roll, psychobilly, and "bad Virgo behavior."
