Honky-tonk dance lessons followed by live music at Sagebrush in Austin, with beginner and intermediate lessons before the floor opens for dancing.
Two-Step Tuesday is back at Sagebrush tonight, September 15, with the usual mix of lessons and live music. It's run by Double or Nothing Two-Step, and it's one of those Austin staples that's been going for a while—the Austin Chronicle once named it Best Two-Stepping Lessons, and it's where a good chunk of the city actually learns how to dance.
The night is built around the lessons, and you don't need a partner to join in. A beginner lesson fills the first hour, starting at 6 PM, so you can walk in knowing nothing and walk out with the basics. If you've already got the footwork down, an intermediate lesson follows at 7 PM. Once the lessons wrap, the floor is handed over to live music from 8 PM to 11 PM, when you can actually put what you just learned into practice.

At the bar, the drinks lean on the Lone Star can, served on its own or paired with a whiskey shot. It's a 21+ crowd, and the cover is $10 cash—and it is cash only, so come prepared. Sagebrush is at 5500 S Congress Ave in South Austin. The whole thing runs every Tuesday: beginner lesson at 6 PM, intermediate at 7 PM, and live music from 8 PM to 11 PM.
