Inclusive community event with story time, crafts and a bilingual music and movement session for families.
Playdate in the Park comes to Davis White Northeast District Park on Wednesday, October 28, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. It's one of the inclusive community events run by the Austin Parks Foundation, and this one is aimed at families with young children. If you've got a little one and are looking for something to do on a weekday morning, this is a good bet.
Each session follows the same gentle, creative formula. It starts with story time, moves into making crafts, and finishes with a bilingual music and movement session called Move and Groove, led by Creative Action. The Move and Groove part is the active half of the morning, and the bilingual approach means it works for families in both English and Spanish. The whole thing is designed to get kids moving and creating rather than just sitting and watching.
Creative Action describes these active sessions as being built to inspire creativity, encourage physical and emotional development, and support the bond between parents and children. It's less about a formal class and more about spending the morning doing things together. Since it's an inclusive community event, it's open to families from across the neighborhood.
