Grand opening of the Torch Center with book and merch sales, library discovery, ribbon-cutting, refreshments and door prizes.
The Torch Center opens its doors in Austin on Tuesday, August 11, with a grand opening that puts Torch Literary Arts front and center. If you've been following the progress of the new space, this is the day it actually opens to the public.
There's a fair amount to do throughout the day. You can buy books and merch, and the library will be open for discovery, so you can spend some time browsing the shelves and seeing what's in the collection. The ribbon-cutting marks the official start, and refreshments will be served. They're also handing out door prizes, so there's a bit more on the table than just the books.
Torch Literary Arts is the main feature of the day, and the opening is built around it. The center is designed as a home for the literary arts in Austin, and this first day is the first chance to see how it works in person. Between the book sales, the open library, and the ribbon-cutting, it's a full introduction to what the space is meant to be.
