Tomgirls, the new punk project from Jenni Rose of Vandoliers, makes its Austin debut at Mohawk.
Tomgirls make their Austin debut at Mohawk on Saturday, September 5, with Moonstone and Generation Exit opening the night. It's the first time the band has played in the city, and the headliner is a new project from Jenni Rose.
For more than a decade, Rose fronted the Texas alt-country band Vandoliers. With Tomgirls, she's stepped into a loud, fast, and unapologetically punk soundβa sharp turn from the alt-country she's known for. The shift follows her coming out as trans in 2025 and a period of profound personal change, and the music reflects that transition. If you've followed her work with Vandoliers, this is a different beast entirely: louder, faster, and leaning fully into punk.
Moonstone and Generation Exit round out the bill, so there are three bands on the ticket. The night is presented by Mohawk, an all-ages venue on Red River Street known for its concerts, strong pours, and for welcoming all music tastes and walks of life.
