Live music night featuring Tomar & The FCs and Nakia & The Never Not Now at C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar, 21+ only.
Tomar & The FCs and Nakia & The Never Not Now play C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar on Friday, August 14, with the music starting at 10 PM. It's a double bill of Austin soul and rock, and the whole night is 21+.
Tomar Williams has been around the local scene for a long time, though you might know him from a few different roles. He got his start singing lead on the Chitlin Circuit with his family band in the late 1980s, and spent decades as a sideman here in Austin, along with work in hip-hop production. He stepped back into the frontman role in 2015 and formed the FCs. The band self-recorded and released their first EP, Day by Day, which The Austin American-Statesman named a top release, and their second album, Rise Above, followed in February 2020 on Splice Records.
Opening the night is Nakia & The Never Not Now, an Austin soulful rock band fronted by singer-songwriter and former The Voice semi-finalist Nakia. They describe their sound as a high-energy blend of gritty rock, vintage soul and cinematic synths, and they've drawn comparisons to Prince, INXS and Otis Redding. They released the album Signal in 2025.
