Blues musician Johnny Nicholas performs live with his band the Hidden Charms at C-Boy's Heart & Soul.
Johnny Nicholas plays C-Boy's Heart & Soul on Saturday, Oct. 17, performing with his band, the Hidden Charms. He's an Austin-based blues and roots musician, songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist who's spent more than five decades living the blues. He learned the craft firsthand from masters like Big Walter Horton and Johnny Shines, and his sound is shaped as much by Texas swing as by South Louisiana traditions.
Nicholas was the frontman of Asleep At The Wheel before fronting his own projects. His recordings include the Grammy-nominated Too Many Bad Habits box set, and his 2026 performance with Jimmie Vaughan, A Tribute to the King of Zydeco, honoring Clifton Chenier, won the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album.
C-Boy's Heart & Soul sits at the corner of South Congress and South First and is billed as the swankiest club in SoCo. Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer dedicated it to C-Boy Parks, who ran the now-defunct Rome Inn. It opened on New Year's Eve 2013 and today hosts Dale Watson's Chicken Shit Bingo on the back patio on Sundays.
