The Spazmatics, an Austin 80s and 90s new wave tribute band, perform their signature show with period costumes and choreography.
The Spazmatics are back at Speakeasy on Wednesday, October 7, part of their regular Wednesday night run. They've been an Austin tradition since 2004, and they bill themselves as 'The Ultimate 80's & 90's Tribute Band' and 'The Ultimate New Wave 80's Band.'
On stage, the four-member group works through the best—and sometimes the worst—of 1980s new wave. They do it in full period costume: suspenders, a pin-wheel hat, a helmet, and a neck brace. They're joined by an emotional-support chicken, and they're known for dance choreography that's charmingly bad and jokes that get the room laughing. It's as much a comedy act as it is a tribute set, and that's a good part of the draw.
If you're bringing a group, VIP table reservations are available for up to 50 people. The show is 18+, so keep that in mind if you're planning for a younger crowd.
