An improvised musical puppet show by the Austin troupe Puppet Bucket, bringing the iconic cult classic to the stage with a live band.
Puppet Bucket brings The Rocky Horror Puppet Show to Fallout Theater on Friday, August 28, at 11:30 PM. It's the newest improvised musical from the Austin-based troupe, which blends old-fashioned puppet charm with quick-witted narrative improv. The show hands the iconic roles of the cult classic to handmade figures built by founding member LB Kovac, and it's performed with a live band playing jazzy music.
It leans into the film's own evolution from a camp movie into a legendary interactive audience extravaganza. Reviewer Cat McCarrey noted that it brings unexpected sexiness and shock value alongside wholly expected hilarity, and plenty more 'hand play' than the original. The troupe has a few nods to its name, too: they earned a B. Iden Payne Award nomination in 2025 and an Austin Chronicle Best of Arts and Entertainment 2026 nomination.
Founding member Mac McDearmont directs, and the core cast includes Alyssa Gargoogian, LB Kovac, Kellen McMurry, Hendrik Matthysen and Connor Molen. Guest starring are Derek Sims, Becca Yuhas, Ellen Houlden, Grant Wilson, Jer Moran and Maddie Cramer, with pianist Lisa Sperry and guitarist David Rosenbaum on the music. In true Rocky Horror fashion, pre-ordered ticket holders get an exclusive prop bag.

The show is recommended for audiences 18+. Tickets are $15 online plus fees, or $20 at the door, and it starts at 11:30 PM at Fallout Theater, 616 Lavaca St.
