The Psychedelic Furs

The Psychedelic Furs play Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, March 25, 2027, with Living Colour opening. The show starts at 7 PM.

For those who know them, the Furs are led by singer and songwriter Richard Butler and his brother Tim on bass. They built their following by pairing poetic lyrics with innovative rhythms and melodies driven by an aggressive, punk desperation. Over eight studio albums and several compilations, they put out a string of hits: "Love My Way," "Pretty In Pink," "Heaven," "The Ghost In You," and "Heartbreak Beat."

That one, "Pretty In Pink," got a big second life when John Hughes used it in his 1986 teen comedy of the same name, which the movie took its title from. Their 1981 debut, Talk Talk Talk, made the Billboard 200, and 1987's Midnight to Midnight became their highest-charting album. After a hiatus in the 1990s, the band reformed in 2000 for a co-headlining tour with The Go-Go's and the B-52's. More recently, "The Ghost In You" turned up in Netflix's Stranger Things in 2017, and in 2020 they returned to the UK charts with Made Of Rain, which got both commercial and critical attention.

The touring lineup is Richard Butler on vocals, Tim Butler on bass, Rich Good on guitar, Amanda Kramer on keyboards, Zachary Alford on drums, and Peter DiStephano on guitar. They'll be sharing the bill with Living Colour, who open the night. The show is at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, March 25, starting at 7 PM.
