The Heavy Heavy perform a tribute to The Rolling Stones at The Continental Club in Austin, with doors opening at 9pm.
The Heavy Heavy are playing two nights at the Continental Club on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30. The shows are billed as The Heavy Heavy & Friends Get Stoned: A Tribute To The Rolling Stones, and that's exactly what they are: the duo playing Stones songs. If you're coming for their own material, this isn't that—it's a full-on tribute set.
For those who haven't crossed paths with them yet, The Heavy Heavy are a UK-based duo, Georgie Fuller and William Turner, who formed in 2019 in Malvern, England. They've built their sound on a wide reach of influences: Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, Delaney & Bonnie, and Fleet Foxes. They self-released the EP Life and Life Only in late 2020 and signed with ATO Records in 2022, and the single "Miles and Miles" landed them a top five on AAA radio. NME named them an essential emerging artist in 2023, and they've played festivals like Bonnaroo, Boston Calling, and Newport Folk Festival, along with appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Their debut album, One Of A Kind, was written by the duo and mostly recorded at Turner's Brighton studio, where he produced, engineered, and mixed it and played much of the instrumentation. That's the record they're known for, but these two Austin dates are a detour from their own catalog—they'll be working through the Rolling Stones songbook instead.
