Third edition of the independent book fair with prose and poetry readings, a book swap, and children's storytelling sessions.
The Austin Independent Book Fair returns to Radio/East on Sunday, September 27, for its third year. It's an annual gathering that brings together independent authors, booksellers, and readers to celebrate books and the Austin literary community. This time around, more than 50 independent voices and organizations from across the city are taking part, so it's a good cross-section of the local writing scene in one room.
There's a fair amount to do throughout the afternoon. Local writers will be reading prose and poetry, and ATX Book Swap is hosting a book swap, which is a great way to clear out your shelves and walk away with something new. For the younger crowd, there's Clowny Story Time starring OoooLaLa and Lawrie Bird. Guest author Cindy J. Vanous will also be there signing her award-winning children's books.
Between the readings and the swap, it's as much about the people as the books. With over 50 voices and organizations involved, you'll find independent authors and booksellers from across Austin, and it's a good spot to meet them and talk shop. Whether you're a writer yourself or just someone who likes to read, it's a chance to see who's doing what in the city's literary community.

The fair runs from 12 PM to 5 PM at Radio/East, 3504 Montopolis Drive, and it's free to attend and open to all ages.
