Teenage Dirtbag is an improv comedy show that runs on the last Wednesday of every month at Fallout Theater, 616 Lavaca St. The whole thing is built around the memories we've lost in the cracks of old internet corners—Xanga, LiveJournal, MySpace—the kind of things you haven't thought about in years until someone mentions them.
Each month, a surprise guest star comes on and shares true stories from their own life as a former teenager. From there, a cast of improvisers takes those stories and brings them to life on stage. The range covers a lot of ground: first crushes, first jobs, the disasters, and the triumphs. Since the stories are true, the comedy comes from the improvisers interpreting and expanding on them in the moment, so no two shows end up the same.
Fallout Theater is Austin's premiere destination for alternative improv, sketch, and stand-up, and this is one of its monthly residents. It's a BYOB venue, so you can bring your own drinks, though you have to be 21+ to drink. The show is recommended for audiences 18 or older.
