Sylvan Esso

Sylvan Esso play ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Monday, March 8, 2027. The duo consists of Nick Sanborn and Amelia Meath, who live in Durham, North Carolina, and run their own recording studio, Betty's, just outside the city.

Much of what they've been playing lately comes from No Rules Sandy, their fourth album, which came out August 12, 2022. The songs were written in a small rental house in Los Angeles, where they drove at the start of 2022 to work. They describe the record as the start of a new period, following a trilogy they completed with their first three albums. The album features guest contributions from Gabriel Kahane on strings, TJ Maiani on drums, and Sam Gendel on saxophone, with interstitial moments of field recordings—voicemails, birdsong, and children's voices—woven throughout.

Both Sanborn and Meath keep other projects going alongside the duo. Meath forms the band The A's with her Mountain Main partner Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Sanborn runs the project Made of Oak. In 2019, they staged the WITH concert, which featured a live band of ten.
