An evening of queer standup comedy hosted by Colton Dowling, featuring Austin comedians, with proceeds benefiting the Transgender Education Network of Texas.
The Creek and the Cave hosts the SXSW Pride Comedy Showcase on Friday, August 28, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. It's an evening of queer standup presented by SXSW and Pride in Local Music, with the proceeds benefiting the Transgender Education Network of Texas.
Colton Dowling hosts the night, and the lineup features a run of Austin comedians: Genivive Clinton, Dylan Sullivan, Aditya, Roxy Castillo, and Angelina Martin. With five comics on the bill, the showcase pulls from the city's own queer comedy scene rather than bringing in a headliner from out of town. The proceeds go to the Transgender Education Network of Texas, so the ticket price does double duty as a donation.
The venue is The Creek and the Cave, located at 611 E 7th St in downtown Austin. It's a dedicated comedy club that describes itself as "your favorite comics' favorite Austin comedy club," and it's long been a home for standup in the city. If you've spent any time in the local scene, you've likely heard it mentioned as a spot where comics come to work out material.
