Suzanna Choffel

Suzanna Choffel plays C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar on Friday, September 4, starting at 6:30 PM. She's an Austin rising star and an undeniable musical force, known for a voice the press calls a "honeyed husk"—the kind of sound that feels just as at home in a dimly lit, smoky club as it does fronting for millions. Rolling Stone has described her as "graceful" and possessing "all the vibe in the world."

If you haven't caught her yet, that "honeyed husk" is a good way to think about it: a voice with a bit of grit and a lot of warmth. It's the kind of singing that carries a room without needing to shout, and it's exactly what makes her a natural fit for a place like C-Boy's. The venue itself was introduced by The Continental Club's Steve Wertheimer and books music seven days a week, so it's a spot that keeps the music going every night of the week, not just on the weekends.

One thing to keep in mind before you head out: the night is 21+ only, so make sure you've got your ID on you. There's no cover, so you can just walk in and listen without worrying about a ticket. The show starts at 6:30 PM on Friday, September 4, at C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar, 2008 S Congress Ave.
