Sunday Night Comedy Show

The Sunday Night Comedy Show is back at The Velveeta Room this Sunday, October 11, and it's not a one-off. The showcase runs every Sunday through the end of the year—October 18 and 25, November 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, and December 6, 13, 20, and 27—all starting at 8 PM. If you miss this one, there's another one next week.

The format is a mix of rising comics and established headliners. The headliners come from Drybar, Comedy Central, Kill Tony, Sirius XM, and Netflix, so you'll see names you recognize alongside newer acts working their way up. It's not uncommon to see traveling comedians passing through Austin, local favorites who call the city home, and the occasional celebrity drop-in. Because the lineup changes, no two Sundays are the same.

The Velveeta Room is Austin's longest-running comedy club, having stayed open for more than 35 years. It's a speakeasy-style hole-in-the-wall that pairs unfiltered stand-up with dim lights and strong drinks. The room is small and dark, and the comedy is meant to be just as raw as the setting. It's the kind of place where the atmosphere is as much a part of the night as the people on stage.

Tickets are available at the door, so you don't need to plan far in advance. The show starts at 8 PM, and with a run that goes all the way through December 27, you've got plenty of Sundays to choose from.
