If you've never been to Sam's Town Point, it's a bit of a trek. It's tucked away in a wooded neighborhood south of Slaughter and Manchaca, and it's often described as the south pole of Austin's musical axis. Lately, it's been one of the city's least visible venues, but it's emerged as a happening scene in its own right. The address is 2115 Allred Dr., so you'll want to give yourself a little extra time to find it.
Shaw isn't the only act on the bill. The Little Elmore Reed Blues Band takes over at 9 PM, so the night stretches into two sets. You can catch Shaw's set and then stick around for the blues band, or just come for one or the other. With the first act starting at 7 PM and the second at 9 PM, it's a full evening of music rather than a single show.
