Stand-up comedy show by the Puerto Rican troupe Standoperos, performed entirely in Spanish with audience participation.
Standoperos are back in Austin on Saturday, October 17, at Cap City Comedy Club, their first Texas date in three years. They're bringing La Tómbola to the Red Room, and it's a show performed entirely in Spanish with no English translation. If you're not fluent, you'll be missing the punchlines, but if you are, it's a rare chance to catch a Puerto Rican comedy staple on home soil.
The lineup is Cristina Sánchez, Erick Bonilla, Ernesto Rolón, and Titito Sánchez. They're known as the most consistent stand-up show in Puerto Rico's history, and the format is as straightforward as it gets: the audience provides the topics, and the comedians provide the jokes. It's an improvisational setup, so the set changes based on what the room throws at them. You've also heard the group on the Standoperos podcast, which is where a lot of their chemistry comes from.
Before you head over, there are a few house rules to keep in mind. The show is 18+, and there's a two-item minimum per person in the showroom—food or drink, and no alcohol required. All sales are final. Seating is split between General Admission on a first-come, first-served basis, Balcony general admission on the second floor, and Reserved seats. If you're going with a partner, there's a Couples Package that bundles two premium reserved seats with a $90 food and beverage credit, gratuity, and Ticket Protection.
