Shyne

Shyne plays ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Friday, Oct 23, as part of his 2622 tour. He's not coming alone: Barrington Levy and Lil' Cease are on the bill with him, so it's a full lineup rather than a solo set. Shyne describes the tour as a celebration of the golden eras of hip hop, reggae, and R&B, and with Levy and Cease in the mix, that's exactly the ground the night covers.

For those who need a refresher, Shyne is a Belizean-Brooklyn rap legend who first made his mark with a commanding baritone and gritty lyricism. He debuted with the platinum-certified Shyne in 2000, followed by the gold Godfather Buried Alive in 2004. Over 26 years as a performer, writer, and producer, he's sold more than 40 million records and worked with names like Usher, Lil Wayne, and The Notorious B.I.G. His life story was recently told in The Honorable Shyne, the Hulu bio-documentary that hit number one in November 2024.

The Austin date is one stop on the 2622 tour, which brings together that hip hop, reggae, and R&B focus. Having Barrington Levy—a reggae staple—and Lil' Cease—a longtime collaborator of Biggie—on the same bill puts the tour's description into practice. It's a night that pulls from a few different traditions at once.

The show starts at 8 PM on Friday, Oct 23, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater.
