An art exhibition by Ashley Lazarz that transforms into a techno rave with live DJ sets, featuring Penny Lane and DEA.
Ashley Lazarz brings her debut solo exhibition, RED ROOM, to Cloud Tree Studios & Gallery on Saturday, September 5. It's a two-part night that starts as a gallery show and ends as a rave, and the whole thing is built around a single color. Lazarz has taken over the space at 3411 E 5th St with red-lit paintings, photography, installation, and sound, all centering on red.
She describes the work as an exploration of feminine power, emotional tension, intimacy, secrecy, danger, ritual, and connection, told through psychologically charged paintings and photographic pieces. The red lighting isn't just for showβit's the common thread that ties the different mediums together.
The evening is split into two distinct halves. From 8 PM, you can move through the exhibition at your own pace, taking in the art while the room is still a gallery. Then, at 10 PM, the space transforms into a rave with dark, driving techno and wompy dubstep. The music takes over, and the art stays on the walls around you while you dance.

On the decks are Penny Lane, starting at 10 PM, and DEA, taking over at 11 PM. The show is sponsored by Nadeau, Wine Divine, Red Bull, and The Cookie Jar Bar. One last detail: attendees are asked to wear black, so you'll fit right into the red-lit room. It all kicks off at 8 PM at Cloud Tree Studios & Gallery, 3411 E 5th St, Austin, TX 78702.
