Live music night featuring the post-punk bands Quicksand and BANE, with support from Soul Blind, at the Mohawk venue in Austin.
Quicksand and BANE play Mohawk on Sunday, August 9, with Soul Blind opening. It's a double bill put together by Resound Presents, bringing three bands from the Northeast to the same stage on a Sunday night.
Quicksand comes from New York City, and BANE is a name that carries its own weight in the hardcore scene. Soul Blind hails from the Hudson Valley, so all three acts are making the trip down from the same general region of the East Coast. If you've followed the scene, you know the sound that connects them—hardcore with a heavy emphasis on the groove and the riff, rather than just the speed. Quicksand, in particular, is one of the bands that helped bridge the gap between the raw energy of early hardcore and the more structured, heavy-hitting approach that followed.
Mohawk is right in the middle of the Red River Live Music District, and it's a venue built for this kind of show. It's got two stages and an intimate bar, so you're close to the stage regardless of where you end up. Having three bands on one bill means a full night of music, and with the lineup coming from the same general scene, the sets should flow into one another without much of a jump in tone.
