A laid-back monthly queer game night with board and video games at Wheatsville Co-Op, part of the 'Join Local Queer' series.
Queer Game Night is back at Wheatsville Co-Op (South Lamar) on Thursday, September 10, starting at 6:30 PM. It's a monthly hangout that meets every second Thursday of the month, and this one is part of the 'Join Local Queer' series. You'll find the group in the co-op's private area, to the left as you walk in, where the evening is built around board games, video games, and everything in between.
The spread covers a lot of ground: dice games, card games, tiny games, and video games. It's entirely community-sourced, so everyone is encouraged to bring along the games they like to play, Switch titles, other consoles, and even an extra monitor if you have one. The whole thing is laid-back and openβyou can pick up a snack, a meal, or a drink from Wheatsville while you play, and there's no set agenda beyond hanging out and gaming.
It's pitched as a low-pressure way to connect with other queer people in Austin. A lot of people show up on their own and leave with new friends made through friendly competition or teamwork, so it works just as well if you're coming solo as if you're bringing a group. If you've been looking for a regular spot to meet people without the pressure of a bar or a formal event, this is a good place to start.
