A movie party in honour of Non-Binary Awareness Week with a surprise screening, queer vendor market, and beats by DJ Miho.
Queer Film Night takes over The Butterfly Bar @ The VORTEX on Thursday, July 23, a night put together by Xander Fae Curiel in celebration of Non-Binary Awareness Week. It's built for non-binary, trans, and gender-nonconforming people and their allies, and it runs for about four hours, so you've got plenty of room to settle in.
The evening opens with a surprise film screening, presented by gender-nonconforming queer folks and allies. They're keeping the title under wraps, so you won't know what's playing until the lights go down. After the film, the night shifts into a mini market featuring queer artists from around Austin, where you can browse and buy directly from local makers. From there, the energy picks up with a DJ set by DJ Miho, turning the latter half of the night into a dance party. There will be specialty cocktails available throughout, too.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's a long stretch of a night—screening, shopping, and dancing—so you can come for one part and stay for the rest. The whole thing is free for general admission, though it's limited to over-18s, and you'll need a valid government-issued photo ID at the door. Doors open at 7:30 PM, and the night runs from 8 PM to 11:59 PM at 2307 Manor Road.
