A monthly psychedelic music night featuring The Harms, Nnédịmmáyá, Addax and FreeBloo&theFreak at the Sahara Lounge, with live drawing and vinyl DJ sets.
The Harms host another Psych Night at Sahara Lounge on Thursday, October 1, from 8 PM to 2 AM. It's part of their monthly series that lands on the first Thursday of every month, where they partner with local studios and bands to showcase different sounds from Austin's psychedelic scene. The night is built around the lounge itself, a laid-back music dive in rural East Austin in a neighborhood once known as the 'Hog Pen.' It opened in 2011 when the BYO-liquor roadhouse T.C.'s Lounge retired, keeping much of the same feel while adopting a vaguely African theme and fencing in a back patio. The room holds around 150 people and shakes with rock, funk, Afro-jazz, hip-hop, country, Brazilian and garage rock seven nights a week, and it took home Best Place to Dance Like No One's Watching in the 2026 Critics Picks.
The Harms are a quartet that blends psychedelic rock with '60s and '70s soul, garage and surf. They recorded their new album, Walking the Beast, at Lechehouse, and they're the ones who put the whole night together. The music doesn't stop when the bands do: Ami Plasse will be doing live drawing throughout the night, and DJ Yance Man of KOOP keeps things moving with a 'channel surfing' set played entirely on vinyl.
