A comedy show where presenters deliver five-minute PowerPoint presentations on any subject, with the audience voting for the best.
PowerPints returns to Radio/East on Friday, October 9, for another night of PowerPoint-based comedy. The format is simple: presenters get five minutes each to deliver a presentation on any subject they like, and the audience votes for the best one. It's the kind of show where the whole point is the range of the topics—the more random, the better.
Past presentations have run the gamut from a beginner's guide to hypnotism and the Boston Molasses Flood to the 2002 Olympic ice-skating scandal and the dietary requirements of Sonic the Hedgehog. Because anyone can apply to present, you never quite know what's coming next. There's also a clock to keep things moving: pickle-shot punishments are dealt out to anyone who runs over their time, so the presenters have every reason to keep it tight.
The show is hosted at Radio/East, part of Radio Coffee & Beer, which has been voted Austin's best coffee shop ten years in a row. It's a spot known for live music, trivia, and a large outdoor patio with food trucks, so it works as a place to hang out before or after the show. The venue is at 3504 Montopolis Dr. in East Austin.
