Phantom of the Opera

Phantom of the Opera comes to the Bass Concert Hall for a short run from January 20 to 31, 2027. It's a revitalized production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, presented by Cameron Mackintosh. The show is now entering its 40th year in London's West End, and since it first opened in 1986, it's played to 160 million people across 217 cities, 52 territories, and 23 languages.

This version keeps Maria Björnson's original design, Harold Prince's direction, and Gillian Lynne's musical staging and choreography. Mackintosh says the production, which first appeared after the pandemic, keeps much of the original creative team alive in spirit while updating certain aspects for a fresh version. The story follows Christine Daaé, a young soprano drawn to the masked genius known as the Phantom, who lives in the depths of the Paris Opera House, and her love triangle with Raoul. Lloyd Webber's score includes "The Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade," and the title song.

On stage, Isaiah Bailey takes the role of the Phantom, Jordan Lee Gilbert plays Christine Daaé, and Daniel Lopez is Raoul. The show runs two and a half hours with one intermission, and it's recommended for ages 8 and up.

There are plenty of options to catch it over the two-week run. It opens Wednesday, Jan 20, at 7:30 PM. Thursday, Jan 21, has a 1 PM matinee and a 7:30 PM evening show. Friday, Jan 22, is at 8 PM. Saturday, Jan 23, has a 2 PM matinee and an 8 PM evening show. Sunday, Jan 24, runs at 1 PM and 6:30 PM. The second week continues with Tuesday, Jan 26, and Wednesday, Jan 27, both at 7:30 PM, and Thursday, Jan 28, also at 7:30 PM. Friday, Jan 29, is at 8 PM. Saturday, Jan 30, has a 2 PM matinee and an 8 PM evening show. Sunday, Jan 31, closes with a 1 PM matinee and a 6:30 PM evening show.
