A night of indie rock featuring performances by Penner, Important Group and TV's Daniel at the Chess Club.
Penner, Important Group, and TV's Daniel are playing the Chess Club on Friday, August 14. It's a three-act bill that stretches late into the night, with each band taking a turn on the same stage. The night starts with Penner at 10 PM, followed by Important Group at 11 PM, and TV's Daniel taking the final slot at midnight.
The Chess Club is at 617 Red River in downtown Austin, in the room that used to be Plush. They describe it as an intimately designed, vibrant facility that books up-and-coming bands and underdogs, so this is exactly the kind of night they're built for: a few different acts sharing one room, one after the other, rather than a single headliner and a couple of openers. If you're coming for just one of them, you'll probably end up staying for the others.

Doors open at 9 PM, which gives you an hour to get settled before Penner kicks things off at 10. From there, the hand-off happens every hour on the hour, so you've got a full run of music going from 10 PM until well past midnight. It's a 21+ show, and tickets are $10.
