Concert by the garage rock band Old 97's with support from Buttercup at Antone's Nightclub.
Old 97's are playing Antone's on Friday, January 1, 2027. It's a New Year's Day show, so if you're planning to spend the holiday in Austin, this is one way to do it. They'll be joined by Buttercup, who opens the night.
Old 97's have been around since the mid-90s, and they've built their name on a blend of alt-country and power-pop that's hard to pin down to one sound. The songs usually lean on a fast, driving rhythm and a knack for hooks that stick, and they've kept that approach across their records. Between the alt-country side and the pop side, they've put out a long run of albums, and their live sets tend to pull from across that catalog.
Buttercup takes the early slot, so you'll get two bands in one night. The main set starts at 8 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM, which gives you an hour to get in and settle before the music kicks off. If you're coming from a New Year's Eve party, that window might be exactly what you need.
