Austin band Nether Hour blends funk, blues, soul, and rock 'n' roll, with blues act Jac with No K.
Nether Hour and Jac with No K play The Continental Club on Saturday, August 8. It's a double bill that keeps the night in the blues and soul family, with Nether Hour taking the main slot.
Nether Hour is an Austin trio that blends Louisiana and Texas-style funk, blues, soul, and rock 'n' roll. They formed during SXSW 2018 and put out their album Rattlesnake Gumbo in 2023, so they've been playing together for a few years now. Opening the night is Jac with No K, billed as one of the city's finest up-and-coming blues acts.
The venue is The Continental Club at 1315 S. Congress. It opened in 1957, and thirty years later Steve Wertheimer took it over as a home for touring and local Americana, rockabilly, and swing. Its Tuesday happy hours mix sultry jazz, country, and blues, while Monday belongs to homegrown honky tonk, and Saturday and Sunday go to other regulars. This particular Saturday fits right into that tradition.
