Monte Warden and the Dangerous Few perform their acclaimed Americana and Jazz music at the Parker Jazz Club, with all proceeds benefiting the Texas Jazz Society.
Monte Warden and the Dangerous Few play Parker Jazz Club on Thursday, September 17, at 7:30 PM. It's a night of original material in the jazz and traditional pop vein, and all the proceeds go to the Texas Jazz Society, a local nonprofit. If you can't make it in person, the show is also available via livestream at parkerjazzclub.com/livestream.
Monte Warden announced the project in 2017, a collection of all-original songs that Paste Magazine called "The Great Americana Songbook" and described as a sound that "never before existed." KUTX put it in a different light, comparing it to "Gene Vincent singing Cole Porter"βthe rockabilly edge of the 1950s meeting the sophisticated songwriting of the Great American Songbook. It's a crossover that doesn't quite fit into one box: Americana, jazz, and traditional pop all playing for a spot in the same set.
The 2020 debut album earned worldwide critical praise and first-ballot Grammy nominations in six categories, including Best Americana Album and Album of the Year. That record is the foundation here, and the live show continues the same thread. The set is built on Warden's own songwriting, so you're hearing the songs as he wrote them rather than a run of standards.
