Ninth edition of Minor Figures' signature beverage competition where top Austin baristas craft signature drinks using Minor Figures Barista Oat.
Brewmania returns to Proud Mary on Thursday, August 20, for its ninth edition. It's Minor Figures' signature beverage competition, and this time it's staged in partnership with Austin Coffee Collective and Proud Mary Coffee. The format is pretty straightforward: some of the city's top baristas and roasters each craft a one-of-a-kind signature drink using Minor Figures Barista Oat, and they go head-to-head for the winner's wrestling belt. The organizers describe it as a spot where competition, creativity, and community collide, and if you've seen previous editions, you know that's a fair summary—it's as much about the coffee community showing up as it is about the drinks themselves.
Jak Ryan is on master of ceremonies duties, and he's coming off a big year of his own: he took home the 2026 Barista Championship. Queer Vinyl Co. will be on the decks throughout the night, so there's a soundtrack to go along with the drinks. Between the two, the room should have plenty of energy while the baristas are working.

On the practical side, the event is free to attend and open to all ages, so you can bring whoever you like. There's an ID check at the door, and anyone 21 and over gets a wristband. Proud Mary is at 2043 S. Lamar Blvd., right at South Lamar and Barton Springs, so it's an easy spot to get to if you're already out in South Austin. It all goes down Thursday, August 20.
