Michael Monroe Goodman dancehall with Manny Velazquez at Broken Spoke.
Michael Monroe Goodman is back at the Broken Spoke on Wednesday, August 26, for another one of his regular Wednesday night dancehalls. He's a fixture there, appearing on multiple Wednesday nights throughout the 2026 calendar, so if you've been around the Spoke this year, his name is likely one you've seen on the board more than once.
It's a double bill that starts early. Manny Velazquez opens the night, playing from 6 PM to 8 PM, and then Goodman takes over for the dancehall set starting at 9 PM. There's a gap between the two, so you can either settle in for the whole evening or just show up for the later half.
For those who haven't spent much time there, the Broken Spoke is a proper Texas dancehall, opened in 1964 by James M. White. It's a live music venue that serves homestyle meals, including its famous chicken fried steak, and runs two-step dance lessons from Wednesday to Saturday, 8 PM to 9 PM, led by instructor Terri White. The live music runs Tuesday through Saturday, so the Spoke is working most nights of the week.

If you're planning to dance, the timing works out well: Velazquez plays the early slot, the dance lessons run from 8 PM to 9 PM, and Goodman starts the dancehall at 9 PM. You can get your steps in before the main set kicks off. The whole thing is at 3201 S. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704, with the first music starting at 6 PM.
