Concert by Los Mirlos, pioneers of psychedelic Amazonian cumbia, at The Far Out Lounge & Stage.
Los Mirlos are playing The Far Out Lounge & Stage on Saturday, September 5, 2026. They're the Peruvian group that helped define cumbia amazónica, the psychedelic cumbia that came out of the jungle regions of Peru. If you've heard that sound before—the surfy guitar lines and the steady, danceable beat—it's a good bet you've come across their work.
They've been around since the 1970s, and that's where the psychedelic part of the description comes in. While cumbia started as a dance rhythm, Los Mirlos were among the first to plug in the guitars and add the kind of effects and textures that pushed it toward something more trippy and expansive. It's music that works as well for dancing as it does for just listening, and that's a big part of why it's still such a thing decades later.
For this show, they're the only act on the bill, so the whole night is theirs. The set will be built around that same cumbia amazónica sound they've been known for since the beginning. It's a straightforward lineup—just Los Mirlos taking the stage.
