Small-group walking tour exploring East Austin's murals, history, and local food and drink spots, with food and non-alcoholic drinks included.
EASTside Magazine is leading the Locals Know Secret Menu & Art Tour through East Austin on Sunday, September 6, from 9:45 AM to 12:15 PM. It's a small-group walking tour that pairs the neighborhood's public art and history with curated bites and drinks from local restaurants and hidden menu gems.
The route goes beyond the usual photo ops. You'll stop at murals and old buildings to hear the stories behind them, and at the restaurants, you'll get the background on the people who run them alongside the food they're serving. The "secret menu" part of the title comes from those off-menu items and local favorites that usually only the regulars know about.
It's a morning spent on foot, so you'll be moving between the art and the food rather than sitting in one spot. The tour is run by EASTside Magazine, which keeps the focus on the neighborhood's people and history rather than just the sights.
