A guided tour focused on close looking and observation through drawing, led by Landmarks staff, where participants sketch sculptures across campus.
Landmarks is hosting Study the Sculpture on Sunday, November 1, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Clock Knot, the sculpture located on the berm between the CPE and ETC buildings on the UT campus. It's a guided tour led by Landmarks staff, and the whole thing is free and open to the public.
The focus here is close looking and observation through drawing. Instead of just walking past the art, you'll spend the morning sketching sculptures across campus, with the Landmarks staff guiding you through the process. The idea is that drawing forces you to really see what's in front of you—the way a line curves, how a shadow falls, the actual weight of the piece—rather than just glancing at it and moving on. It's a slow, deliberate way of experiencing the work.
They provide the drawing materials, so you don't need to bring your own supplies if you don't want to, though you're welcome to if you have a particular set of pencils or a sketchbook you prefer. The one thing you do need to bring is a chair or a blanket to sit on while you work. Since the tour moves through the campus, you'll want something comfortable to settle into for each stop.

It's part of Landmarks' campus programming, and because it's a guided session, you'll have staff there to walk you through the observation and sketching as you go. An RSVP is required to join. The tour runs from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Sunday, November 1, at Clock Knot, and it's free.
