Traditional blues performance by the Little Elmore Reed Blues Band at the iconic Sam's Town Point venue in south Austin.
The Little Elmore Reed Blues Band plays Sam's Town Point on Monday, September 7, starting at 9 PM. It's a home game for them — the band calls the venue its home, and the two have been linked for a while.
If you're not familiar, the band is one of Austin's longest-running traditional blues acts. Frontman and namesake Little Elmore Reed leads a rotating collective of veteran Austin blues musicians, and the set they build together is devoted to preserving a few different sounds: classic Chicago blues, Texas blues, West Coast swing, and New Orleans R&B. Because the lineup rotates, you'll find different veteran players moving through the chairs, but the focus stays on those traditional styles.
Sam's Town Point is a south Austin icon that's been serving ice-cold beer and foot-tappin' live music since 1981. It sports two stages, one inside and one out, and has earned the nickname 'the South Pole of Austin's musical axis.' Geographically, it's one of the city's least visible rooms, camouflaged by a wooded neighborhood beyond Slaughter and Manchaca, but it's emerged as a happening scene in its own right.
