Libby & The Loveless

Libby & The Loveless are back at Sam's Town Point on Wednesday, August 19, continuing their weekly run on the city's south side. Led by vocalist Libby Hallett, they're an acclaimed Austin honky-tonk band that pulls from a few different places at once: traditional country, Western swing, and '90s country influences, all held together by two-step rhythms and original songs. It's the kind of sound that fits right in at a place like this.

Sam's Town Point is located at 2115 Allred in south Austin, and it's been serving ice-cold beer and live music since 1981. The venue has two stages—one inside and one out—so you've got a couple of ways to catch the set depending on the weather. It's tucked away in a wooded neighborhood beyond Slaughter and Manchaca, and it's been called the 'South Pole of Austin's musical axis.' Lately, it's emerged as a happening scene in its own right, and Libby & The Loveless are a regular part of that.

Since they play the south side on a weekly basis, this isn't a one-off date. The band's sound—that blend of traditional country and Western swing with a '90s country lean—is built for the two-step, so if you're in the mood to dance, this is a good spot to do it.
